UK government admits ‘war on terror’ was a mistake

Can you believe it? Just weeks after George Bush creates the world’s largest marine conservation area, David Miliband, the UK foreign secretary, writes in a debate article in the Guardian that ‘the war on terror’ has been a mistake and ‘may have caused more harm than good.’

He also says that, in his opinion, ‘the whole strategy has been dangerously counter-productive, helping otherwise disparate groups find common cause agains the west.’

What’s happening here? What is causing these people to suddenly see sense?

Is it the global economic downturn?

Or is it the Obama-effect, perhaps?

In any case, go David!
