I don’t understand

The government has pumped billions of pounds into the banking system to get the banks lending again – but to no avail. As opposed to the previous 10 years, the banks are acting rationally and being risk averse – exactly like they should.

Why would they want to lend money and take risks in the current financial climate?

No, what is we need is clear – increased spending. Increase people’s spending power, especially those on low incomes – and they will ensure that their money reaches the high street, in turn creating jobs. Obama, along with many Europan leaders seem to get this.

But not Gordon Brown and his banker friends in the City of London.

I read somewhere that the money pumped into the banking system equals £2,000 per person in the UK.

Why not just give it to us?

I promise I’ll save half of it and spend the rest.
